With a sudden change in head velocity, with falls and accidents, the brain moves, the venous sinuses remain stationary, and the bridging veins between the two are stretched and sheared apart (Copstead Banasik, 2013). TBI’s can be very stressful and can take a toll on individuals. It changes the whole way that the body functions; physical, emotional, cognitive, and social changes the individual experiences will greatly impact the nursing plan of care and education.
